Kootenay Ice News Release
Cranbrook, BC - Jeff Chynoweth, General Manager of the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club, today announced the club has traded 19-year-old Defenseman John Neibrandt to the Vancouver Giants in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. The ICE still have seven 20-year-old players eligible to return in 2012-2013, but don't expect Max Reinhart (Calgary Flames) or Luke Paulsen (injury) to return for their overage season (Elgin Pearce, Dylen McKinlay, Drew Czerwonka, Brock Montgomery and Joey Leach are the other 1992 born players).
"With us having seven 20-year-old players eligible to return next year we knew we had to start reducing this number as soon as we could. There are numerous 1992 born players eligible to return for their overage season and we wanted to ensure that John had the opportunity to play his final season in the WHL. We would like to thank John for his two years with our Hockey Club and wish him all the best in Vancouver, " added Chynoweth.
