Vancouver Giants News Release
Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants announced on Thursday that the club has acquired 1997 born forward Ty Comrie from the Tri-City Americans in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2016 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
"With our current injury situation, attaining an experienced centre with a strong skill set and offensive upside was important for us heading into the season," said Giants Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Bonner. "We've got a long road trip early in the year, and we believe that Ty can have an immediate impact in our lineup."
Comrie, an Edmonton native, is set to enter his third season in the WHL. The 18-year-old netted seven goals and 14 assists in 71 games in Kennewick last year. Comrie was drafted in the third round of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft at 61st overall.
The G-Men open the regular season on Friday night against the Seattle Thunderbirds at the Rink on Renfrew. Face-off is set for 7:30pm. For tickets, visit TicketLeader.ca or call 604-4-GIANTS.
