Get Your First Look At The Beach Bums On May 16

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich.-- Traverse City Beach Bums fans can get their first look at the 2009 team by attending a preseason scrimmage on Saturday, May 16 at Wuerfel Park at noon.

The Beach Bums will face the Midwest Sliders in a doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning games with a short break between the two games. Admission is $5 for all fans. Concession stands, ice cream shops and the team shop will be open throughout the games.

The Beach Bums new coaching staff features manager Gregg Langbehn, who spent the past 10 seasons as a coach and manager in the Houston Astros organization, pitching coach Roger Mason, a Northern Michigan native that pitched nine seasons in the major leagues, and hitting coach John Tamargo, Jr., who has been a hitting coach in the Astros organization for the past four years.

The 2009 Beach Bums roster will feature a core of talented returners from the 2008 squad and plenty of talented newcomers. Re-signed players include Frontier League All-Stars David Nathanson, a right-handed pitcher, and Mike Epping, a centerfielder.
