Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
For the second consecutive night the Tri-City Dust Devils dug themselves an early hole only to climb out for a convincing victory over the Yakima Bears. The 12-6 win was the eleventh victory in twelve games for Tri-City, and the Dust Devils set a new Colorado Rockies short season single A affiliate record for wins with 45 on the season.
Yakima (26-46) had an encouraging first inning, with singles by Dan Kaczrowski and Tyson Van Winkle to lead off the game and a three-run double by Roidany Aguila to give them a 3-0 lead.
That score would hold until the bottom of the fifth, when the Dust Devils (45-27) would explode for ten runs, which is one more than the new scoreboard at Gesa Stadium will allow for a single inning. The inning featured 13 Tri-City batters, four hits, three walks, one hit by pitch, two errors, and a wild pitch. It was capped off by a Shane Lowe 2-run home run, his first of the season.
Yakima would bounce back with three in the sixth, while the Dust Devils added Farmers Insurance runs in the seventh and eighth.
Tri-City starter Wes Musick improved to 3-0 on the year after giving up the three first inning runs and six hits in five innings pitched. Yakima starter Brad Wilson fell to 2-3 on the year, with seven runs (only four earned) allowed in 4 1/3 innings pitched.
The regular season schedule at Gesa Stadium concludes Thursday night as the Dust Devils look to sweep the Bears for the third time this season. Josh Hungerman starts on the mound for Tri-City while Andrew Wolcott takes the hill for the Bears.
