Kentucky Wild Health Genomes News Release

The Genomes have signed Robbie Ross Jr. and Jaren Shelby. Both Lexington natives will play tonight as the Genomes take Wild Health Field for first time ever during their inaugural Opening Day.

Robbie Ross Jr. began his baseball career at Lexington Christian Academy. He has 6 years of MLB experience with the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox. Fans may also recognize his past Legends experience during his time on the Leyendas during the Battle of the Bourbon Trail.

Jaren Shelby comes from a line of well-known Lexington athletes and kicked off his baseball journey at Tates Creek High School. He was the number one ranked high school baseball player in the state of Kentucky throughout 2016 which was his senior year at TCHS. Jaren then went on to play for the Wildcats at the University of Kentucky.

"One extraordinary benefit of transitioning to the Atlantic League has been the ability to sign players with local ties to our community. We are honored that two high quality players, such as Robbie and Jaren, have chosen to make the Genomes their home for the 2022 season. We are looking forward to watching them compete in the Bluegrass once again," said Vice President of Baseball Operations Michael Koltak.

Ross Jr. and Shelby join Anderson Miller to round out an extremely talented Lexington native trio on the Wild Health Genomes roster. To purchase Genomes tickets and see a full schedule visit lexingtonlegends.com
