Oshawa Generals News Release
Oshawa, ON - Oshawa kicks off its first road trip of the month at the Peterborough Memorial Centre, facing the winless Petes for the fourth time this season. Oshawa is coming off a four-game winning streak, sweeping a weekend homestand against Sarnia and Brantford. Peterborough gained a single point last week, losing to the Niagara IceDogs 2-1 in a shootout.
The scoring started after a neutral zone turnover reached Braydon McCallum, who made a centring pass to Quinton Pagé. He would score to make it 1-0 after 9:48 of action.
Following a hit on Pagé, McCallum initially challenged Beckett Sennecke, but Tyler O'Toole would drop the gloves instead. Peterborough got the instigator penalty, and Oshawa would go on the powerplay. They did not convert.
14:33 into the first, Beckett Sennecke would score his 12th of the year off a rebound to tie the game at 1. Peterborough would go on the powerplay to end the period. Total shots were 11 to 10 in favour of the Generals.
Ryder McIntyre would score 3:25 into the second on a breakout pass from Jonathan Melee to make it 2-1. Adam Levac would score after 12:30 of action to increase Peterborough's lead to two. Peterborough and Oshawa would get two powerplays each in the second period but would not convert. Total shots for the period were 15-8 in favour of the Petes.
Twelve seconds into the third, Ben Danford scores his second of the season to make it 3-2. The Generals would get two powerplays early in the period but would not convert on either.
Matthew Buckley would tie the game at three on a highlight-reel pass from Calum Ritchie with over 10 minutes remaining in the third period. No other action would happen in the third, and the game would go into overtime.
Nothing would be solved in overtime, so the game headed to a shootout, Peterborough's second in three games. Beckett Sennecke and Colby Barlow would score in the shootout, as the Generals will secure their fifth win in a row.
Although Peterborough picks up a point, they remain winless on the season. The total shots to end the game were 39-32 in favour of Oshawa.
