Oshawa Generals News Release
Brett Harrison scored twice, including the game-winning goal, and added two assists to help lead the Oshawa Generals to a 4-1 victory over rival Peterborough Petes.
Zachary Paputsakis, who earned 3rd star of the game, made 27 saves for the victory. He has now won back-to-back games this weekend and earned special praise from head coach Todd Miller after the game.
"Paps was excellent in this game, really, really good," said Miller. "He kept us in the game earlier on when Peterborough was pressing, and it's great to have him back in the lineup playing as good as he is."
Peterborough would strike first in this one as rookie James Guo made a great pass to Sam Alfano across the crease to give the Petes a 1-0 lead under five minutes into the game.
However, as the period went on, the Generals seemed to spend more time in the offensive zone. Finally, on a power play with under three minutes left in the 1st period, Calum Ritchie tipped in a shot by Brett Harrison to tie the game 1-1.
With the goal, Ritchie snaps a four-game pointless streak began upon his return from the Capital City Challenge. The goal was the 10th of his OHL career.
The Generals would get yet another power-play goal before the end of the period as Brett Harrison fires home a one-timer off a pass from newly acquired Stuart Rolofs to give Oshawa their first lead of the game heading into the 2nd intermission.
Oshawa did an impressive job at keeping Peterborough's chances to the outside in the 3rd period, and captain Ty Tullio banged in an insurance goal to make 3-1 with just 7:20 remaining in the game. Rolofs would pick up his second assist of the game on Tullio's eighth goal of the season.
Peterborough pushed hard to get back within one, but Paputsakis completely shut the door. Brett Harrison would score on the empty net in the game's final minute, his fourth point of the night, to secure victory for the Oshawa Generals.
Rolofs, with two assists in this game, registers his second straight multi-point game with the Generals. He now has one goal and three assists in his first three games as a member of the Oshawa Generals.
"We knew we were getting a great player when we acquired Rolofs, but he's even better than I expected," Todd Miller said postgame. "He's such a strong skater and uses his size to his advantage. I'm thrilled we were able to add him to our lineup."
The Generals now own a record of 11-10-1-2 through 24 games as they look to move up the Eastern Conference standings. They will now prepare for three games in three nights next weekend, beginning on Friday in Ottawa against the 67's.
