Bryan, TX - Matthew Burks went 3 for 5 and scored both runs, but the Generals lost 8-2 and split another series with the Brazos Valley Bombers.

The Generals were unable to capitalize on back to back singles to open the game, and the Bombers struck first in the bottom of the first. With the bases loaded and two outs, Grady Caldwell smacked a two-run double to score Horacio Correa and G.R. Hinsley. Jimmy Norris followed with a single, plating Logan Nottebrok, and Brazos Valley led 3-0 after one frame.

A second straight inning with a two-run double put the bombers up 5-0 after two innings. This time it was Hinsley with the big swing, scoring Dane Steinhagen and Ford Moore.

Cedric Vallieres drove in Burks on a sacrifice fly to left to put the Generals on the board in the top half of the third. Burks led off the inning with a double and moved to third on Justin Pacchioli's single.

The Generals loaded the bases with only one out in the sixth, but a double play would end the chance of cutting any further into the Bombers lead. Andre Shewcraft induced the groundball, coming on in relief of the starter, Mike Walker.

Hunter Hagler doubled in Moore with two outs in the sixth, putting Brazos Valley on top 6-1.

Burks started a two-out rally for the Generals in the top of the seventh. Burks tripled and came in to score on a Blake Cooper double but that would be the only run they could muster, as Pacchioli and Cooper were left stranded.

Armando Arevalo's night would be over after six innings, as he was replaced by Ty Schlottmann in the bottom of the seventh.

Steinhagen answered right back for the Bombers with a two-out two-run double, scoring Ryan Roderick and Tucker Pennell. Roderick pinch-ran for Nottebrok after he was plunked by Schlottmann's second pitch.

A.J. Minter came in for the Bombers to start the eighth, replacing Shewcraft.

It looked like C.J. Pickering may have the night off, until he came in to pitch for the Generals in the bottom of the eighth, taking over for Schlottmann after one inning.

Brazos Valley began the ninth with another pitching change with Cannon Chadwick going in for Minter, and he would put the Generals down in order to end the game.

The Generals will now head to The Woodlands for a two-game series to end the regular season, starting tomorrow night at 7:05. They will then return to Victoria to open the playoffs Saturday night against the Acadiana Cane Cutters. It will be a free ticket night presented by Citizens Health Center.
