Flint Generals News Release

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals of the United Hockey League are putting the final pieces in place while preparing for training camp on Monday, October 4, 2004 at Perani's Hockey World Arena & Event Center.

The players will arrive into town on October 1st to an official welcome and dinner buffet in preparation for camp. The players will go through extensive physical training and workout programs prior to taking the ice on Monday, October 4, 2004 at 9:00 a.m.

Before the players go to work on the ice, they will have a chance for a little bit of fun with the hockey fans and business associates of the Generals in the 2nd Annual Training Camp Golf Outing to be held at the I.M.A. Brookwood Golf Course on Sunday, October 3, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Steak dinner to follow the event. Anyone interested in participating can contact the Flint Generals administrative offices at (810) 742-9422.

Training camp officially opens on Monday, October 4, 2004 with morning team practices and afternoon team scrimmage at Perani's Hockey World Arena & Event Center. All practices are open to the public.

"We are very excited to get training camp underway," said Vice President & Head Coach, Robbie S. Nichols. "We expect a very spirited and tough training camp as players will be battling for a spot on our roster. We will have some fun prior to the official start of camp with our golf tournament, but come Monday morning I expect everyone to bring their best effort to the ice and show me what they bring to the table."

Nichols knows that the N.H.L. lockout is a bit tough for many fans to take. "In recent weeks, the focus has been on the owners' lockout and work stoppage in the National Hockey League," continued Nichols. "We know everyone enjoys the N.H.L and what they have to offer. Now is the opportunity for some of our local hockey fans to come back in to the United League and in particular the Flint Generals and see what we have to offer. We have great hockey players in this league and quality entertainment at family affordable prices. We hope everyone will take in some games this season."

The Flint Generals return to action with the first of three pre-season home games on Thursday, October 7, 2004 versus the Port Huron Beacons at Perani Arena at 7:05 p.m. The regular season home opener is Friday, October 15, 2004 against the Muskegon Fury at 7:35 p.m.
