Generals March to 4-0 Shutout of Suns on Wednesday

JACKSON, TN - Dario Pizzano's fifth inning two-run home run put the Jackson Generals (29-36) in front for good as they coasted to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Jacksonville Suns (34-32) Wednesday night from The Ballpark at Jackson.

Tyler Olson (W, 3-2) picked up the win after shutting out the Suns through seven innings, scattering six hits while striking out four batters in his third win of the year.

Jose Urena (L, 6-4) took the loss for the Suns after allowing two runs (both earned) on seven hits in seven innings of work, while striking out six Generals and issuing a lone walk. The right-hander sat down the first 10 batters of the ballgame and had faced the minimum through the first four innings.

Collin Cargill allowed two unearned runs on one hit in his one inning of working, finishing with one strikeout and one walk in Wednesday night's outing.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning. Patrick Kivlehan started off the inning with a single and came in to score when Dario Pizzano (HR, 4) belted a two-run home run to right field to give the Generals a 2-0 advantage.

The Generals would double their advantage to 4-0 after plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth, capping off the scoring for Wednesday night's ballgame.

The Suns and Generals will be back at it on Thursday night, with first pitch of game two of the five-game series being set for 7:05 p.m. CT (8:05 p.m. ET). The Suns are set to throw out left-hander Chipper Smith (2-1, 1.84) while the Generals will counter with right-hander Matt Anderson (1-2, 5.83).
