Generals Lose a Tough One

July 7, 2016 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
Victoria Generals News Release

A great pitching duel took place at Riverside Stadium on Wednesday, but an early mistake caused the Generals to drop the first game 1-0 in the two-game series.

Kenny Saenz, from the University of Oklahoma, pitched a strong 4.1 innings, giving up three hits and one run. He struck out four, but a passed ball early in the second inning allowed a runner to score from third.

Braxton Smith came in to relieve Saenz and continued the dominate pitching performance. Smith yielded only three hits in 3.2 innings and had four strikeouts.

Smith was replaced in the top of the ninth by Kaleb Keith, who struggled at first, but found his rhythm after only giving up two hits and got out of the inning giving up no runs.

Unfortunately for the Generals, the Bombers also had great pitching. Three Bombers' pitchers combined for a six-hit shutout.

Sam Mahofski, Nick Anderson, Bryce Brandl, Christian Caudle, Chace Sarchet and Hunter Hearn each had a hit for the Generals.

The Generals look to bounce back and even the series Thursday in the conclusion of the two-game series. First pitch is approximately at 7 P.M.

Tomorrow's game is also Victoria College Night at Riverside Park. Present your Victoria College ID for discount tickets for the game presented by Victoria College.

Gates will open an hour before first pitch with happy hour on the Compadres Design Party Deck. Draft beer will be half-price until first pitch.
