LAST GAME: Pearl, Miss. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, halved a double-header against the Mississippi Braves on Thursday, winning the first game at Trustmark Park in a shutout before being held to one run in the second game. Jackson (42-36) still trails Mississippi (38-39) in the series, 2-1, at night's end.

TODAY'S PITCHING MATCHUP: In search of a series-equalizing win, Jackson will throw Bo Takahashi on Friday against talented Mississippi right-hander Ian Anderson. Both players earned 2019 Southern League Midseason All-Star acclaim. Takahashi's previous start against the M-Braves was shortened due to rain, and in the three innings he worked, he allowed 4 earned runs. Anderson's previous start against the Generals was a nail-biter, with Jackson falling 2-1 in a seven-inning contest where Anderson allowed one run on five hits.

DV, JAZZ, AND JEFF: In the week since the Southern League's All-Star Break, Jackson's leading hitters have been Daulton Varsho, Jazz Chisholm, and Jeffrey Baez. The resurgence of Baez's bat has been particularly useful, considering he batted .220 in May & started June in a 7-for-44 slump (.159 BA).
