Birmingham Barons News Release
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Outfielder Luis Robert, second baseman Nick Madrigal and manager Omar Vizquel will represent the Birmingham Barons in the 2019 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, as announced by Major League Baseball on Friday morning.
The game is slated for a 6 p.m. CT first pitch Sunday, July 7 at Progressive Field in Cleveland. Entering its 21st year, the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game is set to feature an American League vs. National League format for the first time, replacing the U.S. vs. World matchups of previous events.
Robert, the Most Valuable Player at the 2019 Southern League All-Star Game, holds top-10 marks league-wide in a plethora of offensive categories, including batting average (.320), on-base percentage (.365), slugging percentage (.531), OPS (.896) and stolen bases (14).
Robert is ranked as the No. 5 prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline, as well as the No. 1 prospect in the White Sox system. The Cuban product, who earned a promotion from Hi-A Winston-Salem on April 30, holds a collective .357 clip at the plate with 15 home runs, 51 RBI and 22 stolen bases during the 2019 season.
Madrigal, ranked as the No. 39 prospect in baseball, received a promotion to Birmingham on June 6, owns a .377/.442/.449 slash line across 18 games with the Barons.
Selected by the White Sox with the fourth overall pick in the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Madrigal began his 2019 campaign at Hi-A Winston-Salem and posted a minuscule 2.8 percent strikeout rate with the Dash.
Madrigal hit safely in each of his first five contests with the Barons, including four multi-hit efforts, and is in the midst of a season-high six-game hit streak entering Friday.
Omar Vizquel, who spent 11 years of his historic playing career with the Indians, will return to Cleveland alongside manager Dennis Martinez as a member of the National League's coaching staff. The first-year manager of the Barons and 11-time Gold Glove-winner will serve as the third-base coach for the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.

The Barons will return to the diamond Friday night when they look to secure a series victory against the Mobile BayBears. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CT at Regions Field and the game will be broadcast via WJQX-FM 100.5.
