Greensboro Generals News Release
GREENSBORO GENERALS
The Generals were defeated by the Lexington Men O' War 5-2 at home last night. The game went sour early for Greensboro, with Lexington opening up a 3-0 lead after just one period. The Generals attempted a comeback with Matt Turek getting them on the board with a power play goal to cut the deficit to 3-1 midway through the second period. However, the Men O' War put the game away with two more goals for a commanding 5-1 lead. Sam Ftorek closed out the scoring with his league leading 14th power play goal of the season in the final minute of the second period.
CHARLOTTE CHECKERS
The Checkers defeated the Richmond Renegades 4-2 on the road last night. The Renegades drew first blood just six minutes into the contest, but the Checkers retaliated with goals less than a minute apart from Nic Bilotto and Dusty Jamieson to take a 2-1 lead after one period. Kevin Caulfield extended the margin to 3-1 with a second period tally, and Jamieson's second of the night early in the third period put the game out of reach for Richmond, who tacked on a goal in the closing minutes for the final margin. Jeff Salajko stopped 34 of 36 shots to earn the victory.
