Flint Generals News Release

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals and the Muskegon Fury will play a baseball type series over the course of the next three games.

The two teams meet for the first of three straight games tonight (Saturday) at Perani Arena and Event Center. Game time is 7:30 pm. The Gens and Fury meet twice more in Muskegon tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at 2 pm and then on Wednesday at a special start time of 10:30 am.

Both teams are coming off different outcomes in their contests last night. The Generals surrendered five power play goals and another shorthanded and dropped an 8-5 decision to the rival Port Huron Icehawks. Meantime, the Fury won their third straight at home beating the Fort Wayne Komets 4-1.

The Fury have won two of the last three meetings between the two teams. However, the last time they met in Flint it was the hometown Generals rallying from a 5-1 deficit to win 7-6 in overtime.

Generals officials said there is still no new information on the playing status of Darren McCarty and that now it's in the hands of the National Hockey League.

Forward Jason Cirone is approaching a milestone that will take place tomorrow afternoon. Cirone is playing in his 999th career professional game tonight and will make it 1,000 tomorrow in Muskegon. Cirone is tied for the points lead on the Generals with Michael Beausoleil with each having 31.

The Generals are still without defenseman Brett Westgarth who was called up to the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League. Westgarth was in uniform for the Stars last night in Houston. Iowa beat Houston 3-1. Westgarth had no points, but managed two shots on goal. Westgarth's tour of the Lonestar State resumes tonight in San Antonio and concludes on Sunday back in Houston.
