Generals DL Jermaine Blakely Named IFL Defensive Player Of The Week

EL PASO, TX. : The Indoor Football League announced early afternoon on Wednesday, July 8 that El Paso Generals defensive lineman Jermaine Blakely has been named the VidSwap.com Defensive Player of the Week for Week 17 of the regular season. In the Generals win over the Rochester Raiders (51-43) last Saturday, Blakely collected 3.5 total tackles including three sacks, two forced fumbles and a 48-yard fumble recovery returned back for a touchdown to seal the win for El Paso.

In five games played this season Blakely has registered 5.5 total tackles including 2.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and one interception. Offensively, Blakely has collected three rushing touchdowns and he has become one of the primary factors in contributing to the El Paso Generals 11-2 overall start in 2009.

Blakely (6'4", 315 lbs.) played his college ball at Stillman College and he is currently in his fourth year of indoor professional football.
