Generals Continue To Build Roster By Signing Three Prospects

EL PASO, TX. : The El Paso Generals announced on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 that the organization has acquired three prospects for the 2010 IFL season. WR Tommy Breaux, DL Ricky Hope and DB/KR Brendon Belt will all be joining the Generals for training camp in 2010. Hope and Belt will add depth to the Generals defensive line and secondary, while Breaux will be a good target in the passing game for an already impressive wide receiving core. The following is background information on today's announced signed players for the El Paso Generals.

WR Tommy Breaux (6'6", 200 lbs.) Towson University / Blinn College

Breaux was a two-sport athlete while at Towson University additionally playing for the Tigers basketball program. As a senior in 2008, Breaux was the sixth-leading receiver for the Tigers posting 35 receptions for 514 yards and six touchdowns. He led the Tigers by averaging 14.7 yards a reception and his six touchdown receptions led the team that season. In 2007, Breaux appeared in three games as a reserve wide out catching 11 passes for 166 yards. As a basketball player for Towson he started in 22 of 31 games during the 2006-2007 season. He led the team in rebounds and blocked shots that season.

Breaux was also a two-sport athlete at Blinn Junior College. He caught two passes for 15 yards and one touchdown in 2005 as part of a run-oriented offense. Breaux was a three-sport athlete at Randallstown High School posting 32 receptions for 632 yards and nine touchdowns during his football career. Breaux was invited to rookie mini-camps with the Washington Redskins, New York Giants and the Baltimore Ravens following his collegiate career.

DL Ricky Hope (6'1", 250 lbs.) Texas A&M Commerce / Reedley Junior College

As a senior in 2008 with Texas A&M Commerce, Hope led the Lone Star Conference with 10.5 sacks with six forced fumbles and finished second in tackles-for-loss. Nationally, Hope was second in tackles-for-loss per game (1.95) and tied for sixth in sacks per game (1.05). Following his impressive senior season, Hope was named the LSC North Division Defensive Lineman of the Year and was additionally named to the 2008 Dan Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA Division II First Team All-American Team.

As a junior in 2007, Hope played in all 11 games recording a tackle in 10 of those games. He recorded a season-high four tackles in back-to-back games against Southeastern Oklahoma State and Northeastern State. Hope would post his first collegiate sack that season against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Hope attended Reedley Junior College in 2006 where he led the team in 7.5 tackles-for-loss his sophomore year, including a team-high 5.5 sacks in six games. He would earn All-Region and All-American honors following his sophomore season.

DB / KR Brendon Belt (5'10", 196 lbs.) Salisbury University

Defensive back Brendon Belt will be a key factor in the secondary for the El Paso Generals in 2010. He was a stand-out defensive back at Salisbury University (Division-III) during the 2003 regular season. Following his collegiate career, Belt signed with the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Pioneers of the AF2 where he saw significant playing time as both a defensive back and kick returner. Belt additionally spent time with the Albany Conquest (AF2) and held a small stint with the Philadelphia Soul of the AFL. Belt will also see time as a kick returner for the Generals in 2010.
