Fudge Named IFL Player of the Week

The Indoor Football League (IFL) announced on Wednesday that Wild running back Darius Fudge has been named IFL Offensive Player of the Week for Week 17. This is the second time Fudge has been recognized as Player of the Week and the sixth time that a Wild player has been recognized this season.

On June 13 vs. Omaha, Fudge set an IFL record by running for five touchdowns in a single game. Against Alaska last weekend, Fudge surpassed that mark by finding the endzone seven times via the ground. In all, Fudge finished the night with 148 yards on just 18 carries, good for an average of 8.2 yards per carry.

Fudge will finish the season as the IFL?s leading rusher with 936 yards 31 touchdowns. He is only the sixth player in the history of indoor football to rush for over 900 yards and rush for 30 TD?s in the same season.

Other players recognized this week were Jermaine Blakely of El Paso as Defensive Player of the Week and Tommy Staples of San Angelo as Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Wild will continue their quest for the United Bowl trophy Saturday, July 18 as they head to either Omaha or Bloomington in the first round of the IFL Playoffs.
