Gems Top AppleSox 6-3, as Late Gems Bats Break up Pitcher's Dual

Klamath Falls, OR: Dylan Rogers (Oregon Tech) singled and scored the go ahead run in the eighth inning, and back to back RBI singles by Cole Trezek (Loyola Marymount University) and Rogers sealed the game in the ninth inning, giving the Gems a come from behind win and take the opener of the three game series in Wenatchee, WA on Saturday against the Wenatchee AppleSox.

Nick Sabo (Long Beach State University) was strong in his second start of the year, pitching five innings and allowing only one run on four hits. Parker Sherrell (Lane Community College) came on in relief in the sixth inning an earned his first victory of the season for the Gems. Chris McDowell (Washington State University) lost his first game of the season for the AppleSox. Gems improve to 6-1, winning their sixth straight. Chris McDowell took the loss in relief, falling to 0-1. Gems remain in first place in the West Coast League's South Division. Wenatchee loses their fourth straight falling to 2-5 overall.

The next Gems home game will be Monday, June 24th as the Gems host the Cowlitz Black Bears; with the first pitch at 6:35 pm. Monday's promotion is Kids Get in Free (sponsored by Kla-Mo-Ya Casino). Each Monday night game during the 2013 Gems season will be Kids Night.
