Kelowna Falcons News Release

Following a four day layoff the Kelowna Falcons welcomed in the Victoria Harbourcats for a three game series beginning on Saturday night. It was the first time in West Coast League history, two Canadian franchises met in Kelowna.

The Harbourcats received a very strong pitching performance from their starter Scott Kuzminsky. The right hander would throw seven terrific innings allowing just one run on five hits while striking out six as the Cats beat the Falcons 7-2.

The Falcons offense was frustrated collecting just nine hits on Saturday night. Only once over the course of the game did the offense string together back to back hits and that didn't

happen until the seventh inning.

The Harbourcats would get to Falcons' starter Michael Frericks early scoring a single run in the second inning. They would add to their lead scoring twice in the third before three more runs in the fourth inning putting the game out of reach.

It wasn't until the seventh when the Falcons finally broke the shutout. Preston Gray would roll a ball to the first baseman with the bases loaded to score Cody Andreychuk.

In the ninth the Falcons would add another run when AJ Young would score on a throwing error, but by that time it was too little, too late as the Cats picked up their sixth win of the campaign.

Gray, Andreychuk and Darren Kolk would collect two hits each in the game that featured six doubles in total.

The Falcons (0-7) will host the Harbourcats (6-1) again on Sunday, Father's Day, at 6:05pm. Caleb Olson (0-1) will get the start for the Falcons.
