Klamath Falls Gems News Release

KLAMATH FALLS, OR - The Klamath Falls Gems came from behind in the ninth inning to beat the Southern Oregon RiverDawgs, 9-8, Friday night at Kiger Stadium.

Slow to start, the Gems pulled through late in the game for the win. In the 7th inning and two outs, Zach Earle and Rich Sanguinetti hit consecutive singles. Kainoa Crowell stepped into the box and hit a towering homerun to left field that stayed just inside the foul pole.

The Gems battled back in the ninth down, 8-4. Coach Brian Embery pinch hit for the first four batters to start the bottom of the ninth. Ashton McCoy led off with a single; Dan Pardini singled and scored McCoy. Joel Atkinson doubled scoring Pardini, and Atkinson later stole third. Crowell came up with another clutch single, followed by an Albert Selanders single. Graham Saiko stepped up to the plate and knocked in Crowell to tie the game up at eight. Next Bo Cornish took a quick walk to load the bases, and Ryan Doeppel took ball four for the RBI sealing the walk-off win.

RiverDawgs starting pitcher Bruce Sanford went seven and two-thirds striking out four and only walking one. He gave up one run and held the Gems to eight hits. Bryan Clough started for the Gems, going one inning and striking out two.

The Gems will host the Klamath Falls Falcons Saturday night in the second of three consecutive non-league contests. First pitch will be at 7:05pm.
