Gems Sweep the Sweets, Taking the Finale, 6-1 at Kiger Stadium

Klamath Falls OR: L.J. Brewster (University of Hawaii) and Ryan Hayden (Oregon Tech) each contributed 3 hits to the Gems offensive attack. A two run home run by incoming Freshman Dempsey Grover (UC Santa Barbara) helped the Gems move to 5-1 on the season, defeating the Walla Walla Sweets 6-1, and sweeping the three game series at Kiger Stadium.

Brandon Horth (Loyola Marymount University) continued his impressive pitching, throwing six innings of no run ball, and moving to 2-0 on the season. Fellow college teammate Cole Trezek (Loyola Marymount University) pitched three innings of impressive relief in his first outing of the year. Gems improve to 5-1, winning five straight games. Drew Christina (Walla Walla Community College) took the loss for the Sweets, falling to 0-1. Gems remain in first place in the West Coast League's South Division. Walla Walla falls to 2-4 overall.

On Saturday June 14th the Gems travel to Wenatchee, WA and take on the AppleSox for three games with the first pitch taking place at 7:05 pm. The next Gems home game will be Monday, June 24th as the Gems host the Cowlitz Black Bears; with the first pitch at 6:35 pm. Monday's promotion is Kids Get in Free (sponsored by Kla-Mo-Ya Casino). Each Monday night game during the 2013 Gems season will be Kids Night. Kids 12 and under can e-mail GM Grant Wilson at grant@kamathfallsgems.com for a FREE general admission voucher for any Monday Night Gems home game.
