Gems Fall 6-4, in Series Finale to Wenatchee

Klamath Falls OR, June 17, 2013: Gems lost a see saw battle to the AppleSox on Monday Night in Wenatchee, WA, as a three run sixth gave the lead back for good to the AppleSox, and they prevailed 6-4 in the series finale at Paul Thomas Field.

An RBI single by Paul Panaccione (Grand Canyon University) in the sixth inning gave the Gems their first lead of the game, but Bret Hartnett (Seattle University) gave up four runs on three AppleSox hits in the sixth inning, giving Wenatchee a 6-3 lead. The Gems scored one run in the ninth on an RBI double by Nick Fisher (Oregon Tech), but no more. Hartnett took the loss for the Gems, falling to 0-1. Stuart Patke (Cisco College) improved to 1-0 with the win for Wenatchee. Gems fall to 6-3, but remain in first place in the South Division. Wenatchee improves to 4-5 on the year. The Gems travel to Kelowna and take on the Falcons on Tuesday night, with first pitch at 6:35pm.

The next Gems home game will be Monday, June 24th as the Gems host the Cowlitz Black Bears; with the first pitch at 6:35 pm. Monday's promotion is Kids Get in Free (sponsored by Kla-Mo-Ya Casino). Each Monday night game during the 2013 Gems season will be Kids Night.
