Kelowna Falcons News Release
The Kelowna Falcons finally recorded their first win of the 2013 season in convincing fashion. They would take down the high flying Victoria Harbourcats 13-6 on Monday night.
The Cats would jump out in front in the top of the fourth on back to back homeruns off Falcons' starter Jason Mouton.
In the home half of the inning the Falcons offensive awoke. Nathan Robertson began an eight run inning with a solo homerun, his first of the season. The Falcons would send 11 men to the plate and had RBI hits from Jarryd Klemm, Jeffrey Bohling, Joe Robbins and Reed Lavallee.
In the fifth the Falcons would tack on another after loading the bases Nelson Benjamin picked up his first RBI of the season, scoring Grayson Porter.
Meanwhile Mouton had settled in keeping the high powered Harbourcats offense at bay. He would throw six terrific innings, striking out five on route to his first win of the season.
The Falcons bats continued their hot hitting in the sixth with a four run inning. Stetson Olson recorded his first RBI of the season scoring Lavallee. Robertson would then score on a fielder's choice, before Klemm doubled home Porter. Before the inning was over, Stockton would score on a Bohling ground out for his second RBI of the game.
In the seventh Preston Gray would relieve Mouton and give up four runs through the final three innings, however just one was actually earned.
The Falcons offensive would score 13 times on 15 hits, easily their best outing in the first nine games of the season.
Victoria now heads to Bellingham, while the Falcons (1-8) welcome the Klamath Falls Gems (6-3) for a three game series beginning on Tuesday night. Its the only time these two teams will face each other this season. First pitch on Tuesday is at 6:35pm as Nolan Savage (0-1) gets the start of the home side.
