Walla Walla, WA: The Gems could only manage four hits off starter JD Leckenby (Washington State University) and lost 5-1 to the Walla Walla Sweets on Saturday night at Borleske Stadium. Austin Brand (Seattle University) had two hits for Klamath Falls in the loss. Jackson Lockwood (University of Portland) lost his first start of the year for the Gems, and fell to 1-2. Leckenby moved to 1-0 this year for Walla Walla, who improved to 16-10 on the year. The Gems season mark stands at 12-14 with the loss, and have lost six straight games.
Gems next home game is Monday, July 8th vs. the Medford Rogues. Monday's promotion: Kids get in free (Sponsored by Kla-Mo-Ya Casino). Each Monday night game during the 2013 Gems home season will be Kids Night.
