
Bend drops rubber match with Medford 8-4

Bend took an early 2-0 lead over the Medford Rogues Sunday, but Medford sent all 9 hitters to the plate and scored 5 runs in the bottom half of the inning en route to an 8-4 victory over the Bend Elks in the rubber match of the 3 game series on Sunday from Medford.
Bend got on top in the 2nd inning as Kyle Giusti had an RBI double to score JD Larimer and Seth Spivey followed with a 2 out single to score Giusti as the Elks lead 2-0 in the early going.
Medford responded in a big way int eh bottom of the 2nd, sending 9 hitters to the plate and scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning as the big blows in the inning came in the form of a 2 run triple from Nico Pacheco and an RBI double from AJ Balta, as Medford jumped in front with a 5-2 advantage after 2 innings.
Bend retaliated in the top of the 3rd with another 2 runs as Tyler Servais walked and Cullen O'Dwyer singled, Giusti stepped up to the plate for the second straight inning and delivered for the Elks with a 2 run single, as Kyle finished 3-4 in the game and played a part in all 4 Elks runs, driving in 3 and scoring himself, Bend cut the Medford lead 5-4.
From that point on it would be all Medford however, as the Rogues scored 1 in the 3rd and 2 in the 4th to get back on top and win by an 8-4 final, and rode Dillon Keene to victory. Keene, who came on in relief for Bret DeRooy in the 4th inning, pitched 5 and 2/3 scoreless innings, giving up 4 hits the rest of the way to the Elks in earning his second win for Medford in 2013.
The Elks will take Monday off before returning to action Tuesday in non league action, they will play a double header on $2 Tuesday beginning at 3 p.m. as Game 1 will be played against Perth, Australlia, then Game 2 at 6:35 p.m. the Elks will host Top Speed Baseball.
