Geathers Returns to Shock

Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that DL Jeremy Geathers and OL Sifa Etu (pronounced See-fuh) have been added to the 2012 roster.
Geathers, 6-3 255, was a member of Spokane's ArenaBowl XXIII Championship roster in 2010. That season, Geathers collected four sacks and 19.5 tackles in only nine regular season games. In the postseason, Geathers added two sacks and was named the Defensive Player of the Game in Spokane's 69-57 win over Tampa Bay in the ArenaBowl.
Geathers immediately signed with the BC Lions of the CFL shortly after the ArenaBowl, but was released due to injury. In 2011, Geathers was a late-season acquisition by the Chicago Rush where he played in five games and collected six tackles with one sack.
"Spokane fans who remember that 2010 season know what kind of a player Jeremy Geathers can be," Head Coach Andy Olson said. "He is a game changer and he proved that in the ArenaBowl. He has the kind of speed and strength you need to bring a pass rush from the defensive line."
Etu, 6-1 310, will enter his first season of Arena Football after he was in camp with the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this season. Prior to his professional experience, Etu was an All-Sun Belt Conference player at Arkansas State where he was a teammate of Spokane's Brandon Thompkins (WR).
"Etu is extremely athletic and his NFL experience is an added bonus," Olson explained. "He has the athleticism to line up as a full back and he has the strength to line up with the offensive lineman. Etu had great film and he has all the makings of a great Arena player." Spokane will open the 2012 season on Monday March 12th as it hosts the Iowa BarnStormers.
