Tri-City Storm News Release
Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm forward Gavin Brindley has announced a commitment to play collegiate hockey in the future at the University of Michigan. Brindley is currently in his second season with the Storm and scored two goals in Tri-City's season-opening 3-2 overtime win over the Dubuque Fighting Saints at the DICK'S Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic.
#4 Gavin Brindley (5'9'', 157 lbs), of Estero, Florida, returns to this year's team after netting nine goals and recording thirteen assists in his debut season with the Storm last year. Three of Brindley's nine goals were game-winning goals. After signing a tender agreement with the team on March 27th, 2020, Brindley made his USHL debut with the Storm on November 13th, 2020, in Tri-City's 5-1 road loss to the Omaha Lancers. He scored his first career USHL goal on December 11th, 2020, in Tri-City's 4-1 win over the Omaha Lancers at the Viaero Center. Prior to joining the Storm, Brindley scored fifty-six goals and notched fifty-five assists in fifty-three games played during the 2019-2020 season with the Florida Alliance (AAA). He finished the season with a team-high in goals, assists, points, and plus/minus rating (+80). Brindley represented the United States at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland. Brindley scored in the USA's opening game of the tournament, a 7-5 win over Finland. The United States went 3-0-0-1 in tournament play and won a Silver Medal in the event. Brindley's Florida Alliance team finished Runner-Up in the National Championship Game at USA Hockey Nationals for the 2018-2019 season. Brindley scored an overtime game-winning goal in the Storm's opening game of the 2021-2022 regular season on Thursday, September 23rd in a victory over the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Through the first two games of the regular season, Brindley is the only Storm player who has scored multiple goals.
"I decided to choose Michigan because of the opportunity that was available to me. Being able to play hockey for one of the best schools in the nation while getting a first-class education was an easy decision for me to make. I hope to help bring a Clark Cup back to Kearney for the Storm this season. It means a lot to the guys who have been through this organization so I want to do everything I can for them and for the guys who are here this year. It's important to be a winning team and to have success. I'd like to thank my dad and my family for everything that they have done for me up to this point. My success would not be possible without them as well as our coaching staff and everyone in the Tri-City Storm organization. What they do goes unseen, and they all deserve endless amounts of credit for their hard work." - Forward Gavin Brindley
"We are proud of Gavin and happy for him and his family on his commitment. Gavin's love for the game, his drive to get better, and his positive attitude are all reasons why we decided to sign him to a tender agreement. He is the kind of guy that makes you love being a Coach. He has earned everything that he has gotten up to this point, and we expect that he will continue to flourish and make us all proud in the future."- President of Hockey Operations/Head Coach Anthony Noreen
