Madison Capitols News Release
On the eve of the 2021-22 home opener, the Madison Capitols have named their leadership for the upcoming season. Wisconsin commit, Jack Horbach along with Harvard commit, Casey Severo will serve as team captains for the Capitols. Anaheim Ducks draft pick and Michigan Tech commit, Kyle Kukkonen will dawn an "A" and joining him is Verona, Wisconsin native, Reid Pabich.
"All four of those guys have been leaders since day one this year," Capitols head coach Tom Upton said. "Not only do they go about their business the right way every day to reflect our culture and our expectations and standards here, but they also speak it and preach it as well."
Severo, who has yet to make his season debut due to being on the injured reserve list, put together a solid 2020-21 campaign with the Waterloo Black Hawks. The Pittsford, N.Y. native had 21 points (5 goals, 16 assists) in 43 games, good for a plus-3 rating. in 46 games with the Lincoln Stars, Horbach netted 8 goals and tallied 6 assists. Pabich comes back from spending last season with the Sioux Falls Stampede where he totaled 22 points on 10 goals and 12 assists. Kukkonen had no shortage of ice time last year. The Capitols rookie scored 47 points in just 19 games for Maple Grove High School. He then had a pair of 19 game stints in the Upper Midwest High School Elite League and with Minot Minotauros of the North American Hockey League. Severo, Horbach and Pabich all return to the Capitols this season after being drafted in last years dispersal draft.
The four letter bearers along with the rest of the Capitols engage in battle tomorrow night with the Chicago Steel at 7:05 p.m. This will be Madison's first regular season game back at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena in well over a year.
