
Gary Rallies In Ninth For 3-1 Victory

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks allowed three runs in the top of the ninth inning and fell to the Gary SouthShore RailCats 3-1 on Saturday night at Newman Outdoor Field. Fargo-Moorhead suffers their first loss of the season, while Gary improves to 1-1.
After going hitless in his first five at bats with the RedHawks, 1B Randall Simon hit a fifth inning solo homerun off RailCats starter RHP Chris Jones. Simon pulled the ball down the right field line over the Coca-Cola banner.
RedHawks closer RHP Tyler Chambliss gave up the tying-run on RF Steve Haake's RBI double. Chambliss walked the bases loaded before being replaced by RHP Nick Fellman who struck out Isaac Omura, but gave up the game-winning two-run double to C Brett Wallace.
RailCats reliever Edwin Walker (1-0) pitched a scoreless eighth inning to pick up the win. Chambliss (0-1) was tagged with the loss. Gary RHP Aaron Cook closed out the ninth inning for the RailCats for his first save of the season.
RedHawks starter RHP Gary Bakker pitched 6.0 scoreless innings and struck out ten. In 12.2 innings, RedHawks starters have yet to surrender a run. Jones went 5.0 innings giving up one run off Simon's solo.
The RedHawks will go for the rubber match on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. RHP Billy Weitzman will start for Fargo-Moorhead and LHP Tom Thornton for Gary.
