CLEARWATER, Fla. - Luis Garcia continued his hot streak, but the Threshers could not top the Tarpons Thursday night at BayCare Ballpark.

Tampa (65-31) took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run home run from Anthony Garcia. The tarpons tacked on two more in the third on a fielder's choice and a sac fly to make it a 4-0 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, Luis Garcia scorched a triple on the ground that scored Jared Carr. Garcia would later score on a fly ball single by Ethan Wilson to cut the deficit to 4-2.

Garcia collected his second RBI of the night in the seventh inning from a groundball single to bring the game within one run at 4-3.

Garcia has recorded an RBI in each of his last four games and had two triples in as many days.

The Tarpons tacked on some insurance runs in the eighth from a line drive single and a two-run home run for an 8-3 lead.

Juan Aparicio added another run to the board for Clearwater in the home half of the inning with an RBI single, but Tampa sealed the deal in the top of the ninth with a solo home run to put the Tarpons on top 9-4.

The Tarpons and Threshers meet again Friday for a double dose of baseball. The teams will play two seven-inning games with game one slated to start at 4:00 p.m. The Clearwater Beach Dogs take the field for the final time this season. The final Beach Dogs Friday of the summer features a Threshers' shaker bottle giveaway (limit one per person, first 1,000 guests) and 50-cent hot dogs.
