MOBILE, Ala. - The Tampa Bay Rays have announced that OF Marty Gantt has been promoted to the Biscuits from A+ Charlotte. In a corresponding move, OF Johnny Field has been placed on the disabled list (hand).
Gantt, 25, was hitting .235 with a .327 on-base percentage with the Charlotte Stone Crabs before his promotion. He played all of the 2014 season in A+. A former seventh round pick by the Rays out of the College of Charleston, Gantt is now in his fourth season of professional baseball and earns his first promotion to AA.
Field is hitting .255 with 14 home runs and 66 RBI with the Biscuits. Last year's Rays Minor League Player of the Year has been with the Biscuits the entire season. He was a mid-season All-Star.
The Biscuits active roster is at a league-max of 25.
