Tonight

The Saskatoon Blades (8-9) fight to keep their season alive Wednesday at SaskTel Centre in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Championship vs the Winnipeg ICE (11-2).

It's the second consecutive series the Blue and Gold trail 3-0, joining the 1996 Spokane Chiefs and 2013 Kelowna Rockets as the only clubs to reverse sweep their opponents.

Tonight marks the sixth time this postseason Saskatoon faces elimination currently 5-0 with their backs against the wall. Game 3 didn't go the Blades way losing 5-1 last night at home with the lone Blades goal coming from forward Justin Lies. Netminder Ethan Chadwick stopped 20 of 24 shots before rookie goalie Austin Elliott turned aside nine of ten in relief.

Who to Watch

19-year-old winger Justin Lies scored for a second consecutiuve game last night. The former Vancouver Giant gunned through neutral ice before ripping his third of the playoffs past ICE netminder Daniel Hauser. Lies broke Hauser's shutout streak in Game 2 110:48 into the series. Lies returned in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Championship after serving a three-game suspension and hasn't wasted time making his presence felt. The 6-foot-2 bruiser has four points in 14 playoff games after registering a career best 23 points in 56 regular season games.

The Belarusian machine known as Egor Sidorov can explode offensively at any moment. The 6-foot sniper scored five goals in the six regular season meetings between the two clubs, including a hat-trick Nov. 26th at SaskTel Centre. Sidorov has four multi-goal games these playoffs, leading the Blades with nine total, six delivered on the man-advantage. The fan-favourite winger is second on the team in points with 19 in 16 games, trailing linemate Trevor Wong who has 20 in 17 outings.
