New Jersey Jackals News Release

After an emotional, come-from-behind victory in game one of a doubleheader, the New Jersey Jackals and Gary SouthShore RailCats' nightcap was suspended in the sixth inning. The game will be picked up tomorrow prior to the start of the scheduled final game between the two sides with the RailCats leading 3-0.

Dustin Birosak (1-1, 4.87) made his second start of the season for the Jackals on a clear Saturday night in Little Falls. He struck out a season best five hitters, but did allow three runs on six hits over six innings. He is on record for the loss.

Fellow lefty and converted reliever Jon Gulbransen (0-0, 1.04) made his third start of the season for the RailCats and was effective. Gulbransen threw five shutout innings, surrendering only two hits and striking out eight. He is on record for the win.

The RailCats offensive came via a sac fly by Brian Kolb and an RBI double by Mike Rohde, both in the fourth inning.

Gaetano Giunta and Chris Curran provided the Jackals two hits of the night. With his first inning single, Giunta extends his hitting streak to eight games, while Curran extended his own hitting streak to nine.

The suspended game comes on the heels of a 6-5, extra inning Jackals victory in game one of the doubleheader, game two of the four-game set. Chris Henderson's walk-off single in the tenth inning won the game for New Jersey.

This game will be continued before the start of tomorrow's scheduled finale. The continuation will begin at 2:05 p.m., the scheduled start time for the aforementioned finale. The latter will begin thirty minutes following the conclusion of the first game.

In that final game between Gary and New Jersey, lefty Craig Clark (4-4, 5.80) goes for New Jersey. The RailCats' Morgan Coombs (3-5, 5.46) will oppose him. Coverage for both games begins at 1:55 p.m with first pitch at 2:05.
