BOX SCORE GAME LOG
The SeaWolves battled back late on Tuesday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium, only to fall to the Bowie Baysox 6-5 in 10 innings.
The Baysox jumped ahead in the second against Erie starter Artie Lewikci . Audry Perez led off with a double and moved to third on a Jeff Kemp single. With one out, Erick Salcedo singled home Perez for a 1-0 lead.
Erie tied the game in the top of the fourth against Jason Garica when Gabriel Quintana belted a line drive solo home run, his third, over the wall in left.
Bowie quickly regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Kemp led off with a single and moved to second on an Adrian Marin sacrifice bunt. Salcedo drove home Kemp, giving the Baysox a 2-1 lead.
It was Salcedo again in the last of the sixth as Bowie extended their lead to 5-1. Perez led off with a single and Marin doubled with one out to set the table. Salcedo belted a three-run home run, his second in the past two games.
The SeaWolves battled back in the top of the eighth against Bowie reliever Garrett Cleavinger . With one out, Jeff McVaney walked and Mike Gerber was hit by a pitch. The runners advanced on a wild pitch and came home to score on a two-out Dominic Ficociello base hit to make it 5-3.
It was once again the two-out hitting that tied the game in the top of the ninth for the SeaWolves. Kody Eaves led off with a single and Logan Watkins was hit by a pitch. Tim Remes laid down a sacrifice bunt, pushing the runners into scoring position. McVaney then delivered a two-out, two-run double off the wall in center, tying the game 5-5.
Bowie would then win the game in the last of the 10th against Erie reliever Kurt Spomer . Aderlin Rodriguez doubled with one out. With two outs, Jeff Kemp was intentionally walked and Marin singled, loading the bases for Salcedo . Salcedo lifted a line drive, just out of the reach of the second baseman Watkins, scoring Rodriguez for the win.
Ryan Meisinger (3-0) earned the win for the Baysox in relief tossing two scoreless frames.
Spomer (0-1) took the loss for the SeaWolves allowing a run on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Lewicki got the no-decision allowing four runs on nine hits with two walks and four strikeouts while equaling a season-high 5.1 innings.
Erie will look to avoid the sweep on Wednesday against the Baysox at 11:05 a.m. Lefty Matt Crouse (3-0, 4.05 ERA) takes the mound for the SeaWolves against RHP Matthew Grimes (0-2, 2.93 ERA).
