RALSTON, NE - Anthony Angello recorded a goal and Kris Oldham stopped all but two shots in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinal but it was the visiting Tri-City Storm who picked up two points from Conner Valesano on route to a 2-1 victory and a 1-0 series lead over the Omaha Lancers inside Ralston Arena on Tuesday night.

A shot from just inside the blueline put Tri-City ahead of the Lancers at 6:49 of the opening period. Mattias Goransson took the puck at the left point courtesy of a Conner Valesano pass from the right side of the offensive zone. Goransson fired a shot through traffic in front of the net and the puck rang off the right post and into the net for a 1-0 lead. The goal was Goransson's eighth of the year and first of the post-season with the lone assist going to Conner Valesano.

In the second period as his penalty expired, Vince Pedrie exited the box as the puck came up the right side of the ice. Pedrie moved into the right wing circle as Conner Valesano joined the rush skating through the hash marks. Pedrie fired a pass to the left and Valesano sent in his fifth of the year and first of the playoffs at 5:59 of the second period for a 2-0 lead.

Omaha responded, ironically as their penalty expired. Louie Rowe came out of the box and waited for the long pass from Brendan Smith. Rowe took the pass from Smith and moved quickly into the left wing circle letting a shot go that was stopped by goaltender Alec Dillon but the rebound dropped to his left. Angello crashed the net and was credited with his 20th of the year and first in the playoffs to split Omaha's deficit in half, 2-1, with exactly 5:00 left in the middle period.

Late in the third period after no scoring, the Lancers pulled goaltender Kris Oldham for the extra attacked. After a faceoff with 18 seconds left in the game, the Storm pinned the puck up against the wall in the final ten seconds to seal the Game 1 victory over the Lancers.

Kris Oldham stopped 21 of 23 shots he faced on the night.

The Omaha Lancers hit the road for Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinal on Thursday night inside the Viaero Event Center at 7:05PM. Can't make it? LIVE coverage of the game begins at 6:50PM CST with the Valpak Pregame Show on The Mighty 1290 KOIL, www.mighty1290koil.com, and www.fasthockey.com .
