Quarter 1: Highlanders 23 Magic 28
The Highlanders were without Ta'Quan Zimmerman (knee), and Aaron Redpath missed his second straight game. The Magic were without Corey Allmond and Billy White. Former Highlanders player Cordell Jeanty is on the Magic roster. Highlanders take the early lead. Magic take their first lead midway through the 1st quarter. Highlanders effective under the bucket finding rebounds. Refs call another tight game, seem to be setting a standard early in the season for the league.
Quarter 2: Highlanders 48 Magic 54
Magic had momentum at the end of the 1st but the Highlanders interrupted it by drawing fouls and sinking free throws. The Magic found their stride again midway through the quarter. O'Louis McCullough drained two 3s to keep the score close. Turnovers and fouls from both teams were a factor in the latter part of the 2nd quarter.
Quarter 3: Highlanders 81 Magic 85
The Highlanders had another good start in the 3rd quarter, the Magic were playing a complete game but the Highlanders did not allow them to extend their lead.
Quarter 4: Highlanders 110 Magic 118
The Magic had the advantage from the field, while the Highlanders faired well getting rebounds and finding points from the free throw line. The Magic's shooting allowed them to take an 11-point lead midway through the 4th quarter. The Highlanders, led by Bruce Massey, continued to force turnovers and drive to the basket to close the gap. Unfortunately, the Highlanders could not re-take the lead and suffered their first loss of the season.
