St. John's Edge News Release
St. John's, NL - The St. John's Edge dropped their first game of the season today to the London Lightning.
The story of the game for the Edge was the difference in second chance points. London were able to capitalize and covert for 20 second chance points through four quarters.
In the final minutes, the Edge pushed through a deficit of up to 9 points to tie the game with just under 1-minute remaining, but in the end, London were able to hold on for the win.
The offense was ignited by Diego Kapelan's 22 points, while shooting 6-of-9 from three-point range. In the paint the Edge were able to deny 7 Lightning shots over four quarters.
Dez Lee picked up right where he left off last season, notching a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Another bright spot for the Edge was their bench, which produced 38 points led by Maurice Jones Sr. with 16 points and followed by rookie Jared Nickens 9 points, all from behind the arc.
For the Edge, the road trip continues on Wednesday as they head down highway 401 to visit the Windsor Express in a Wednesday night rematch from last year's NBL Canada first round.
The team will return home on Thursday to prepare for the Home Opener against the Moncton Magic slated for Friday, November 23rd at 7:00pm at Mile One Centre.
