GAME PREVIEW: SOLAR BEARS AT EVERBLADES

Orlando seeks win against Florida in lone preseason match

WHO: Orlando Solar Bears (0-0-0-0) at Florida Everblades (0-0-0-0)

VENUE: Germain Arena, Estero, Fla.

DATE: Saturday, Oct. 8, 7 p.m.

LISTEN: OSBN on Mixlr

MATCHUP: The Solar Bears face their only test of the 2016 preseason tonight at Germain Arena against their in-state rivals, the Florida Everblades. Friday night's preseason game was cancelled as a result of transportation concerns due to Hurricane Matthew. Both teams split overtime wins in the 2015 preseason, and Florida would go on to take the regular season series and earn the inaugural Wawa Sunshine Cup with a 10-3-1-0 record against Orlando.

BEAR TRACKS: After opening training camp on Monday with 12 players invited to the Solar Bears' AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies, several players were returned to Orlando by the middle of the week. However, Orlando is still without defenseman Taylor Doherty and forwards Adam Brace, Bryan Moore and Sebastien Sylvestre.

EVERBLADES NOTES: For the first time since the Solar Bears began play in the ECHL, Greg Poss will not be at the helm of Orlando's South Division opponent. Former Idaho Steelheads head coach Brad Ralph returns to the pro ranks as the bench boss of the Everblades, replacing Poss. After coaching Idaho for three seasons, Ralph guided the WHL's Kelowna Rockets to a 48-20-4 record last year, and takes charge of one of the most successful teams in the ECHL, having missed the playoffs only once in 18 seasons.

AFFILIATE REPORT: Orlando's Sebastien Sylvestre netted the OT-winner for the Marlies in a 5-4 victory over the St. John's IceCaps on Friday to ensure a Coleman's Cup win against the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. The third game of Toronto's exhibition series takes place today in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, at 12:30 p.m.

The Orlando Solar Bears drop the puck on their fifth season of ECHL hockey on Saturday, Oct. 22 against the Florida Everblades at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center. Opening Night is Orlando United Night, presented by Auto Justice Attorney Michael T. Gibson, P.A. Single-game tickets are now on sale at the Amway Center box office and ticketmaster.com. Full and half-season ticket plans are now available by visiting OrlandoSolarBearsHockey.com.

The Orlando Solar Bears are the proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, and play all of their home games at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center, the 2012 Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal Sports Facility of the Year.
