Charlottetown Islanders News Release
Finding the back of the net has never seemed so easy. When you're able to accumulate 21 goals over three games it's hard to find something that's worth complaining about. The Isles currently have a nice little win streak going, with blowout wins over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and Cape Breton Eagles, as well as a solid battle against the Val-d'Or Foreurs. During this three-game win streak, the Islanders are outsourcing opponents 21-8 as well. Now, fans will get another look at a Quebec team that's been long estranged from Charlottetown, the Gatineau Olympiques.
The Olympiques last appeared at the Eastlink Centre on November 11th, 2019, when they defeated the Islanders 3-0. As far as this season is concerned in the Olympiques case, things could be better. Gatineau sits at 3-2-2-1 on the year and is currently riding a 2-game win streak. Their last outing was a 3-2 victory over the Sherbrooke PhÅ"nix and prior to that a 2-1 win over the Victoriaville Tigres. The Olympiques are currently lead in scoring by second-year forward and Laval, Quebec native Antonin Verreault. Verreault has tallied two goals and five assists in eight games this season.
On the Islanders side of things, Noah Laaouan continues to build on his playmaking skills from the blue line. Laaouan sits with only one goal on the season, however, he has 13 assists thus far normally being the team's helping hand on multiple goals a night. Patrick Guay has also been on a tear as of the last three games as he has had a multi-goal game in each. Guay now sits with eight goals on the season and has ten points in total.
Lukas Cormier was recognized for his strong play last week as well as being named to the CHL's team of the week for the period between October 18th-24th. Cormier collected four goals and four assists giving him eight total points through the three games. It was headlined however by his performance in the 7-5 win over Val-d'Or when he tallied two goals and two assists including the game-winning score. Cormier sits now with 12 points through 10 games as the Vegas Golden Knights draft pick continues tearing up the QMJHL.
Tonight's game against Gatineau kicks off a busy stretch for the Islanders as it will be the first of three back-to-back games for the Islanders. They're on the road in Saint-John Friday evening and back home against Moncton for some Saturday night action.
Tonight is student night as well at the Eastlink Centre, all tickets and drinks for those 19 years of age and older are $4. Tickets are available at the Eastlink Centre Box Office in person (Monday to Friday 11 am to 5 pm), online, or by phone at 902.629.6625. Make sure to get your tickets early and come on out to help your boys in black and harvest gold protect the bridge.
