Game Preview: New England Revolution at Vancouver Whitecaps FC

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (5-4-2, 17 pts.) are in Vancouver for Saturday's matchup with Vancouver Whitecaps FC (4-5-4; 16 pts.) at BC Place, the first of three matches the club will play over the next eight days. The match kicks off at 5:30 p.m. ET and will be televised locally on NBC Sports Boston with Brad Feldman and Paul Mariner on the call. Authenticated subscribers may also stream the match on NBCSportsBoston.com and on the NBC Sports app. The contest also airs on the radio with 98.5 The Sports Hub broadcasting the action in English, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio providing Portuguese commentary.

Saturday's match will be the only meeting between New England and Vancouver in 2018. In their last meeting on Aug. 12, 2017, the Revs claimed a 1-0 win at Gillette Stadium. New England has won each of the last two contests between the two sides and will look to win at BC Place for a second consecutive match. In addition, the Revolution Academy's Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 teams joined the first team on the trip to Vancouver and will take the field against Whitecaps FC's residency sides on Friday.

Following Saturday's contest, New England will return home for the club's first midweek match of the season against Atlanta United FC on Wednesday, May 30 at Gillette Stadium. That match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET, and will be broadcast locally on NBC Sports Boston, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio.

The Revolution extending a two-match winning streak over Whitecaps FC that began on June 18, 2016.

Forward Teal Bunbury finding the net for the sixth time in the club's last nine games. Bunbury has scored in five-of-eight games dating back to March 31 at Houston.

Forward Cristian Penilla recording a goal and an assist to become the sixth player in MLS this season to record at least five goals and five assists.

Defender Andrew Farrell logging three minutes played to reach 15,000 career MLS minutes. Farrell will become the eighth player in club history to surpass the 15,000-minute milestone with the club.

There are a few notable connections between the Revolution and Vancouver:

o Whitecaps FC forward Kei Kamara played for the Revolution from 2016-17. Kamara scored 19 goals across 52 league appearances for the Revs after the club acquired him in a trade with Columbus Crew SC in May 2016. On Dec. 10, 2017, New England traded him to Vancouver in exchange for a pair of MLS SuperDraft picks.

o Revolution goalkeeper Brad Knighton played for Whitecaps FC from 2012-13. Knighton submitted a 9-6-5 record in 21 appearances between the pipes for Vancouver.

o Whitecaps FC defender Aaron Maund is a native of Dorchester, Mass.
