Game Preview: Iowa at Green Bay

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Barnstormers (1-1) are set to hit the road this weekend for their matchup versus the Green Bay Blizzard (1-1). Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. CDT on Sunday, March 22 at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The game will be available live on WHO 1040 AM and online via IFLLive.tv.

Last Monday, the Barnstormers chalked their first-ever IFL win in a matchup versus the Bemidji Axemen. Although the Axemen appeared to take control early, the Barnstormers kept up and played through the end of the clock. It wasn't until the second quarter that Iowa tallied their first points. A blocked kick and defensive PAT by DB Kirkland Davidson started the momentum for the Barnstormers. QB Robbie Nallenweg connected with WR Brady Rolland for three huge touchdowns throughout the night. On the other side of the ball, the Barnstormers defense kept Bemidji scoreless in the third, increasing the margin of the scores. In the end, Iowa Barnstormers 38, Bemidji Axemen 26.

The Green Bay Blizzard also recently evened their record 1-1 after a 71-63 victory over the Tri-Cities Fever. Blizzard QB Donovan Porterie played an important role in the team's win, completing 21 of 28 passes for 280 yards and six touchdowns. Quick on his feet, Porterie collected three rushing touchdowns on his own and connected with wide receiver Demarious Washington for a trio of touchdowns in the air. Washington finished the game with six receptions for 106 yards.

The Week 4 matchup between the Barnstormers and the Blizzard will be their first since 2009. Af2 rivals, the two teams faced-off four times in 2008 and 2009. In their last meeting, the Blizzard took the victory 71-65 and topped of their all-time series with the Barnstormers 3-1. The two clubs will meet once more in 2015 when the Blizzard travel to Wells Fargo Arena on April 11.
