Game Preview: Gens Take on Rival Petes Tonight at 7:35pm
October 12, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Oshawa Generals News Release
Tonight, the Oshawa Generals hit the ice at the Tribute Communities Centre to take on the rival Peterborough Petes. The Gens head into the game with a record of 3-3-0-0 in their first six games of the season, coming off a weekend with a huge 7-1 win over the Bulldogs last Friday and a tough loss to the Attack on Saturday. The team will look to grab a big two points and obtain a winning record in their second game at the Tribute Communities Centre this season.
Tonight's matchup marks the first time the Gens will face their division rivals, the Peterborough Petes, in regular season action. The teams went head-to-head in two exhibition games in September, with the Gens coming up short in a shootout in the first game but getting a strong 4-1 victory in the second game. While the Petes have had a strong start to their season with a 6-2-0-0 record, the Gens will look to bounce back from their recent loss and down Peterborough for a big win in front of the home crowd.
A couple of key players to watch in tonight's game include Allan McShane and Nando Eggenberger. At a point-per-game pace, Allan McShane has had a great start to the season, notching 2 goals and 4 assists in the first 6 games. The winger exploded offensively last Friday against the Hamilton Bulldogs, putting up 2 goals and an assist for a big 3-point night. McShane had a stellar performance in the big win and will look to carry that dominant play into tonight's game. Nando Eggenberger recorded his first career OHL goal against the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday. After being selected in the 2018 CHL Import Draft this past June by the Gens, the Switzerland native showed off his goal-scoring ability in the team's exhibition games and is starting to carry it over into the regular season. With his first official goal as a General under his belt, expect Eggenberger to come out flying tonight and look to pot another.
Come out to tonight's game at 7:35pm and support the Gens against the Petes in their first of two home games this weekend! The team will go on to play the Hamilton Bulldogs at the Tribute Communities Centre on Sunday.
