Game Preview: Gens Open Weekend at Home Tonight against Bulldogs at 7:35pm
December 14, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Oshawa Generals News Release
The Generals begin their three game weekend with a home tilt against division rivals the Hamilton Bulldogs. After claiming two points in a 4-3 overtime win over the Kitchener Rangers on Tuesday, the Gens record has improved to 19-10-2-0 on the season. Looking to start the weekend off on the right foot, the Gens will aim to defeat the Bulldogs tonight in Oshawa.
Tonight's matchup marks the fifth time Oshawa will take on the east division foes this season. In the first four meetings between the two teams, the Gens hold a dominating record of 3-1, with their last game being a big 6-2 victory at home. Oshawa has had a ton of offensive success against Hamilton so far this season, scoring 23 goals during the four games they've met. The offense will look to continue that trend tonight and increase their impressive goal total against the Bulldogs.
With a strong stretch of 7-3-0-0 in their last 10 games, the Gens remain near the top of the eastern conference. The surging Sudbury Wolves and Niagara IceDogs sit just 2 points above the Gens, who currently hold fourth place in the east with 40 points. Meanwhile, the Hamilton Bulldogs remain in the lower half of the conference, holding a record of 15-15-2-0 on the season. With the fellow east division club in town, Oshawa will aim to down the Bulldogs and take the two points up for grabs tonight.
With a big performance against the Rangers on Tuesday, a player to watch for tonight is Gens forward Serron Noel. The power forward had a clutch game in Kitchener, potting a shorthanded goal in the second period and burying the overtime winner to secure the win for Oshawa. Noel has also been on fire against Hamilton this season, recording 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points in the first four meetings with the club. Leading the Gens in goals and points with 19 tallies and 18 assists, look for Noel to keep up his incredible production and continue to drive the offense against the Bulldogs tonight.
Join us at the Tribute Communities Centre for puck drop at 7:35pm to cheer on the Gens against the Hamilton Bulldogs! The team will go on to take on the IceDogs in Niagara tomorrow before returning home to cap off the weekend against the Guelph Storm on Sunday.
