Tonight...

Life away from home begins for the Saskatoon Blades, as they open up a three-game road trip at Mosaic Place against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Toon Town is coming off back-to-back overtime victories, with each winning goal coming off the stick of Kyle Crnkovic. Now locked in with a playoff berth, the Blades are trying to catch up to the top three in the East Division, currently sitting in the second and final wild-card spot. They've won four of the past six, and hold a commanding season advantage against Moose Jaw with a 4-0-1-0 record.

Head to head...

Saskatoon has won four straight against Moose Jaw, two of which in shutout fashion (4-0 on Nov. 17 at home, and 3-0 on Jan. 31st at Mosiac Place). The Blades have outscored the Warriors 23-10 over five games, with their most recent win coming on Feb. 9th by a 4-3 score in overtime. NHL draft eligible prospect Tristen Robins notched the overtime winner in that game, along with two assists to earn the game's first star.

Playoff race...

The East Division standings continue to heat up as we approach the post-season. Saskatoon has a bit of ground to make up if they hope to earn one of the top three positions, currently sitting four points back of the Winnipeg ICE with 71 points. Brandon is one point further up on the Blades, with Prince Albert leading the pack at 82. Following tonight's contest in Moose Jaw, the Blades head to Winnipeg for an extremely important match on Friday, followed by the final game of the road trip in Brandon on Saturday. Those two games could mean the difference between the Blades finishing in a wild-card playoff spot, or leap-frogging their way into one fo the top three positions.

Crank it up!

Kyle Crnkovic is one of the hottest players across the league right now. The 18-year-old shifty forward notched four-points in Regina on Friday, including the overtime winner. Making his performance even more impressive, is this was the second straight night he scored the game-winner in overtime against the Pats. Crnkovic currently leads the team in assists (43), and sits second in scoring with 63 points in 62 games.

Saskatoon's next home game comes on March 18th, closing out the season series against the Regina Pats, which is also the final Winning Wednesday contest of the season.
