GAME PREVIEW: Baltimore Blast vs. Detroit Waza Flo

Friday November 14, 2014 @ Royal Farms Arena

By the Numbers:

Baltimore Blast: Won season opener against the Syracuse Silver Knights 16-7. Baltimore enters tied for first place in the East.

Detroit Waza Flo: Defeated Harrisburg in first game of season 8-4 and lost to Rochester in a 9-8 overtime game. Detroit enters in third place in the East.

Setting the Tone:

Max Ferdinand started the season by recording a hat trick in the opening game against Syracuse. Lucio Gonzaga (2), Diego Zuniga (1), and Adriano Dos Santos (1) also added goals in the opening game. Defender Pat Healey in his 7th season anchors the strong Blast defense and contributed 2 blocks last week. In goal for the Blast, last year's MISL goalkeeper of the year William Vanzela, looks to continue his winning ways in Baltimore and is off to a good start with a .727 save percentage.

Welcome to the Blast

In addition to the returning players, the Blast roster also includes seven newcomers. Phil Saunders, Onua Obasi, Jerjer Gibson, Juan Pereira, Jonatas Melo, Kaoru Forbess, and Vini Dantas all look to make an impact in their first season with the Blast.

The Competition

The Detriot Waza Flo are new to competitor to the Blast coming from the PASL and enter tonight's game with a 1-1 record. Miki Djerisilo and Victor Otieno lead the team with 5 points each. Both have recorded 3 goals and 2 assists in the first games of the season. Worteh Sampson (4 points on 4 goals) and Zack Wilkes (1 goal) are former members of the Blast. The Waza Flo are coached by Costea Decu.
