Game #11 (6-4) - Home Game #4 (1-1)

RHP Myles Jaye (2-0, 1.80) vs. RHP Kelvin Vasquez (0-0, 1.80)

Today's Preview: The Intimidators (A, White Sox) play for a series split with Hickory (A, Rangers) on Sunday after dropping two of the first three games of the series. Last season Kannapolis dropped four of six series against the Crawdads, splitting the other two. The last time the Intimidators won a series over the Crawdads came in August of 2011, as Kannapolis claimed one of the five series against Hickory during the season.

Intimidating Starter: Opening Day starter Myles Jaye, 21, makes his third start and first at home today. He has earned wins in each of his first two starts, giving up 2 ER in 10 IP with eight strikeouts along the way. The White Sox acquired Jaye via trade in January 2012 along with prospect P Daniel Webb for major leaguer P Jason Frasor.

Hickory's Hurler: Kelvin Vasquez, who turned 20 April 6, makes his second start and third appearance of the season today. He has allowed a run over 5.0 innings, including a scoreless four inning-outing in an April 9 start against Greenville.

About Last Night: Kannapolis left the tying runs on base in the seventh and eighth innings, eventually falling the Hickory 9-6 on Saturday. The Crawdads scored a season-high nine, the most allowed by the Intimidators this season. All nine Crawdads batters collected a hit, with Nomar Mazar and Joe Malloney pacing the club with two RBI each. Mazara put Hickory up first with a two-run double in the first, and Malloney broke a tie game with his two-run home run (1) in the fourth. Jefferson Olacio took the loss, giving up 8 runs (5 ER) over 3 1/3 innings. Adam Heisler had his second 3-hit game this year.

Heisler Hustling: Centerfielder Adam Heisler went 3-4 at the plate on Saturday, with three hits in each of his first three at-bats. He finished with two doubles, three runs scored and an RBI. Heisler had an opportunity for a triple in his third plate appearance, but Hickory's bullpen gate was left open when reliever Tyler Smith entered the game to face Heisler, and his liner down the right field line trickled into the pen, limiting Heisler to a ground-rule double. A triple would have put him =BE of the way to the natural cycle.

Micah on the Move: Leadoff man Micah Johnson swiped second base on Saturday against the Crawdads to increasing his league-lead to nine stolen bases on the season, two ahead of Lexington's Terrance Gore. Johnson went 1-3 with a walk on Saturday, scoring two runs to remain atop the SAL with 12 runs scored.

Hickory's Hits: The Crawdads collected 10 hits on Saturday, including at least one by all nine batters in the order. Only No. 9 hitter SS Luis Marte enjoyed a multi-hit game, going 2-3 at the plate. The nine runs scored were the most allowed by the Intimidators this season, topping the previous high of six, accomplished by Hickory on Thursday.

Jefferson Jostled: The eight runs allowed by Jefferson Olacio in Saturday's start is the most by an Intimidators pitcher this season. The five earned runs he allowed equals the most by a Kannapolis pitcher, also by Olacio in his first start of the season April 8.

Brandon in the Bullpen: Brandon Hardin worked 3 2/3 innings out of the bullpen on Saturday, the most innings by an Intimidators reliever this season. Hardin allowed one of three inherited runners to score but gave up just two hits and striking out three.

Why? Be-Cose: Intimidators pitcher Jake Cose ranks eighth in the SAL with a 0.84 ERA (1 ER/10.2 IP) after two starts. He did not allow a run in his first 13 innings of work in the SAL, including 3 innings to end last season, before giving up an RBI-double to Hickory's Jordan Akins in the sixth inning on Friday.
