Chivas USA and the San Jose Earthquakes meet for the second time in three weeks when the clubs face off at The Home Depot Center on Saturday evening for a Mexican Independence celebration night. Chivas come into the game needing every point they can take if they are to stay alive in the playoff chase. The Quakes have become the first team to clinch a berth in the MLS Cup Playoffs, still leading the MLS overall table.

Chivas USA-San Jose Earthquakes Facts

Chivas USA and San Jose met for the first time on April 9, 2005, at Spartan Stadium, playing to a wild 3-3 draw.

Chivas USA-San Jose Earthquakes have met 15 times and scored 40 goals, for a 2.6 goal average per game.

All-Star goalkeeper Dan Kennedy is Chivas USA's all-time series leader in wins with three.

Chivas USA rookie forward Casey Townsend and Quakes' midfielder Sam Garza were selected No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, in the first round of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft.

2012 - May 13 Goats' forward Jose Correa scored the last goal against San Jose Earthquakes in the 4th minute. Match ended in a 1-1 tie.

Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy and Quakes' defender Jason Hernandez were teammates in 2005 with the New York/New Jersey MetroStars. Kennedy is also a fellow alumnus of UC Santa Barbara with Quakes' midfielder Sam Garza.

As of Sept. 2, two Goats have played all 2340 minutes of action (starting each of the 26 matches this season) - All-Star goalkeeper Dan Kennedy and right back James Riley. Left back Ante Jazic has also logged an impressive 1965 minutes, having started 22 games.
