Seattle Sounders FC News Release
With its last three games having been decided in stoppage time, Seattle Sounders FC seeks to extend a three-game unbeaten run before turning for home. Less than three days after drawing 2-2 at FC Dallas, Sounders FC comes to Toronto to complete its first back-to-back, two-match road trip. First kick is 11 a.m. PT at BMO Field.
Seattle (2-1-2, 8 points) moved into sole possession of second place in the Western Conference on Thursday night at Pizza Hut Park.
Toronto FC (1-3-0, 3 points) returns to BMO Field, where the Reds have claimed their only points. They lost at Colorado, 3-1, last Sunday.
Sounders FC is undefeated (2-0-2) in its last four regular season road matches, dating back to last season, and 4-1-3 in its last eight.
Steve Zakuani and Fredy Montero scored in the draw at FC Dallas.
Five of Zakuani's six career goals have come on the road, beginning in Toronto a year ago. Sounders FC is 4-0-2 when Zakuani scores.
Montero's thunderous direct free kick in Texas came from a distance of 40 yards, hurtling over the wall and curling into the upper left corner. It was his second goal of the season and the 14th of his young career. Montero is also tied with Osvaldo Alonso for the team lead with two assists in 2010.
KING 5 and News Talk 97.3 KIRO FM will broadcast Sunday's game with Arlo White calling the play. In Spanish the match can be heard on 1210 AM Ke Buena with Rene Aleman, Noe Menendez and Victor Hernandez.
Sounders FC was unbeaten (1-0-1) against Toronto FC in 2009, with the victory coming in the club's first road fixture on April 4, with the visitors prevailing, 2-0.
Seattle plays two in a row at home on the Xbox Pitch at Qwest Field beginning May 1 at 7:30 p.m. against the Columbus Crew.
