Real Salt Lake Match Preview: RSL At Columbus Crew
April 23, 2010 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, Utah (Friday, April 23, 2010) - Real Salt Lake (1-2-1, 4 pts.) will end a seemingly continuous stretch of road affairs against another opponent from last year's playoff run this Saturday, April 24, when it travels east to the heart of the Buckeye State to take on the Columbus Crew (1-0-1, 4 pts.). Kick-off is set for 5:30 p.m. MT at Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, with KUSG 2.2 (Comcast 111/Dish 12) broadcast coverage concluding with the 30-minute America First Credit Union Post-match Report live from Crew Stadium. The match can also be followed live over the airwaves on RSL's official radio partners - KALL 700 Sports (English) and ESPN Deportes 1600-AM and La Magia 106.1-FM (Spanish). Fans can also track live updates of the match via Real Salt Lake's official Twitter feed, located at www.Twitter.com/RealSaltLake. The match will mark the end of a hectic stretch of games that has seen RSL start the season with five of six contests on the road since its March 27 opener at San Jose, while the Crew will come in fresh, having enjoyed the luxury of two bye weeks to start the season, both within the last three rounds of play.
Real Salt Lake and the Crew will be meeting for first time since their Eastern Conference Semifinal Series last fall, when RSL captured the aggregate series 4-2 to advance towards its first MLS Cup crown. The Utah side has had its struggles against "America's Hardest Working Team" in the past, posting a 5-7-1 record across all competitions against Columbus, including a 2-5-0 mark in Ohio. That overall ledger might be a bit deceiving, however, as Real Salt Lake has posted a 4-4-0 record against the Black-and-Gold during the "Jason Kreis Era" since early in the 2007 campaign. The match will be one that pits two expected frontrunners in their respective conferences against each other, not to mention the last two hoisters of the Philip F. Anschutz Trophy.
The Rail Event Center to Host Saturday's Official RSL Watch Party
Real Salt Lake invites all fans of the Claret-and-Cobalt to gather once again at The Rail Event Center, located 235 N. 500 West in Salt Lake City, this Saturday night for the Official RSL Watch Party for the first rematch of last year's Eastern Conference Semifinals against Columbus. Doors for the RSL Watch Party will open at 4:45 p.m. MT in advance of the 5:30 p.m. kickoff, and free admission will be granted to anyone wearing RSL apparel and children 12 years of age and under. Anyone wishing to gain entrance without wearing any RSL gear may do so for a $3.00 fee at the door.
The Rail will be able to accommodate all Real Salt Lake fans, as the facility includes an alcohol-free family center and an over-21 adult area serving alcoholic beverages. The Rail Event Center stretches over 42,000 square feet and will feature the important early-season affair on most of its 48 plasma screen TV's located throughout the building, giving fans plenty of options to see the KUSG 2.2 broadcast of the match. In addition, KALL 700 Sports' Trey Fitz-Gerald and Spencer Checketts will host the America First Credit Union Pre-match Report and the RSL Post-game Show from the RSL Watch Party at The Rail, and fan participation both before and after the match will be encouraged from "Real Nation."
